Manchester United's Scottish midfielder Scott McTominay was constantly being linked with a move to Newcastle last summer, but the rumours ultimately went nowhere.

But now, they're back and Newcastle are reportedly amongst four Premier League clubs looking at the 27-year-old.

Man United value McTominay at around PS40million who made 43 appearances for the Red Devils last season, bagging 10 goals and three assists.

McTominay could fill that defensive midfielder role that many people think Newcastle need to fill, but that centre-midfield part of the pitch is one that many fans will believe we have well covered already, and spending PS40million on another midfielder when there are other positions that need attention more, would be crazy.

Scott McTominay would be a good signing I'm not sure what it is with Scott McTominay because every time I watch him play he's actually decent, but I just can't get my head around him being a good player.

It's probably the whole Manchester United thing and I'm sure if he did come to Newcastle he'd be a good signing, but my brain refuses to connect those dots.

Thankfully it looks like he's Fulham-bound anyway so it's not a bridge I'm likely to have to cross.
