Newcastle United Have Held Talks To Sign This AC Milan Defender: Good Choice For Howe?
Source: The 4th

In a recent report, journalist Graeme Bailey claimed that Newcastle United have held talks to sign AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori. It is believed that the Magpies would have to rival West Ham United in the race to land the English centre-half this summer.

Tomori's Impressive Form In Italian Football Tomori had a solid campaign at the Milan club as he managed to put in a run of impressive displays for them on the defensive third of the field. The English talent participated in 35 matches for his current employers last season, scoring four goals across all competitions.

The 26-year-old was a dominant presence when defending inside his half based on his average of 1.6 tackles, 1.0 interceptions and 2.5 clearances per game in Serie A. He was even accurate when distributing the ball from the back after completing 91.3% of his attempted passes in the Italian top tier (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at San Siro will run out in the summer of 2027. Hence, the Magpies would have to launch a convincing offer if they are serious about recruiting Tomori this off-season.

Standing at 1.85m, the English sensation can use his strong frame to win a few 50-50 aerial duels for his team. He already has some Premier League experience under his belt and won't take much time to adjust to life at Newcastle United.

Tomori would inject more bite and steel into Eddie Howe's defensive department. He is good enough to challenge for regular first-team football at St. James' Park next season. Plus, Howe could be the ideal man to get the best out of the English defender.

With all things considered, Tomori would be a solid choice for the Magpies to pursue in this summer transfer window. At 26, he has his best years ahead of him and could help Newcastle compete across all fronts in the coming years.
