Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes is currently on international duty with Brazil, where he will be playing alongside someone who has been linked with a move to St James' Park yet again.

Bruno is part of the Brazil squad alongside Newcastle teammate Joelinton, as they prepare to face Colombia and Argentina in World Cup qualifiers.

They are very important games for Brazil, who will need their forwards to be firing in the absence of Neymar as they look to qualify for the 2026 tournament in USA, Canada and Mexico.

One of those forwards is Raphinha, who has returned to the Toon gossip columns.

Newcastle remain interested in Barcelona star Raphinha According to Spanish website Sport, Newcastle are still interested in signing Raphinha from Barcelona.

They state that Chelsea are also keen on the winger, who could be on the move in 2024. Sport state that Barca will listen to offers for Raphinha at the end of the season if he does not improve.

That could give Newcastle a fresh chance to sign the 26-year-old, who has been relentlessly linked with a move to St James' Park since Eddie Howe became manager on Tyneside.

Interest in Raphinha is not new for Newcastle During the club's first transfer window after the takeover, there was a move for Raphinha. He was still a Leeds United player at the time, and Newcastle were unable to bring him to the North East.

He then signed for Barcelona in the summer of 2022, despite once again being on Newcastle's radar. The Brazil international was even described as Howe's dream signing.

But that dream did not become a reality, and that remained in the case during the most recent transfer window.

There were plenty of rumours in Spain that Newcastle were trying to sign Raphinha. It was even claimed that the Magpies were willing to break their transfer record for him.

But this was disputed by the English media, and the 'magic' attacker stayed with Barcelona.

Now his future is up in the air again, which has inevitably led to Newcastle being linked...again.

He is a very talented player and someone who has excelled in the Premier League, so it would be no surprise if Newcastle really were keen to sign him. However, this once again feels like the Spanish media trying to push something that isn't really there.
