Nottingham Forest have managed to get another player off of their books and bolster their spending power in the process.

It's been a busy week for the Reds with a number of pieces of transfer news coming to light.

First, it was claimed that Moussa Niakhate was set to sign for Lyon ahead of the PSR deadline - and that deal is expected to be announced imminently.

Next, it was claimed Forest were set to sort a bit of a back-scratching deal out with Newcastle.

Forest agreed on a deal worth PS35 million - spread over a number of years - for Elliot Anderson, with Newcastle taking Odysseas Vlachodimos from the Reds in return.

Yesterday, Forest announced that Brandon Aguilera has signed for Rio Ave permanently and last night details of another transfer came to light.

For the second half of last season, the Reds performer moved on loan to Lyon and it was always anticipated that the move would become permanent.

The good news, however, is that Forest have made a significant profit on the Belgian player.

According to L'Equipe, Forest have recouped a total of PS31 million for Mangala - which is frankly staggering!

Forest received PS11 million from Lyon for the player to go on loan last season and now they've stumped up the PS20 million clause to buy him permanently.

It's also claimed that Forest have retained a 10% sell-on clause should Lyon look to make a quick buck themselves and move him on.

Mangala was solid if unspectacular for Forest The talented player always has a smile on his face and in another era perhaps Forest could have justified keeping hold of Mangala for a little while longer.

Ultimately, he was never going to be a first choice in the midfielder chosen by Nuno Espirito Santo and moving him on looked the right thing to do.

Forest have a wealth of midfielders at their disposal with Danilo, Nicolas Dominguez, Ryan Yates, Ibrahim Sangare and now Anderson in their ranks.

Getting this sort of fee for Mangala makes a lot of sense and this should be celebrated by the club.

The PSR threshold looks to have been met for another year and it's great to see Forest getting good fees from other clubs for their players for a change.
