Morgan Gibbs-White speaks after his first England call up Morgan Gibbs-White speaks after his first England call up Morgan Gibbs-White believes he can help bring a winning mentality to England as they prepare for a reboot under Lee Carsley.

While the unavailability of some established names has given the interim manager the chance to introduce new faces - such as Gibbs-White - there is also a distinct feeling around the camp that Carsley will not just stick with Gareth Southgate's tried and trusted methods and players.

"I think you have to look at it as a new start if you want to move forward and achieve something," said Gibbs-White, who was one of Carsley's most-trusted players when the under-21s won the Euros last year.

"We know how hard it is to win a tournament. It's a very difficult thing to do. We have to take a new look at it. Not start fresh - we have to build on what we have done, because what we have achieved is good.

Having been given a senior call-up that he refers to as 'a dream come true', Gibbs-White is bound to be a big fan but his backing of Carsley is still strikingly fulsome. The Nottingham Forest midfielder declared: "I believe he is the perfect guy for this job.

"Tactically, he is very, very good and his man-management skills are very good as well. Give him time in training and in games and you will really see him bring the best out of the players in this camp."

Gibbs-White is hoping to have an immediate impact in the England camp At under-21 level, Carsley certainly brought the best out of Gibbs-White, Angel Gomes and Noni Madueke, who are now all in line for their first senior appearances after playing in the under-21 Euro final in the summer of 2023.

Gibbs-White and Gomes were also in the team that won the under-17 World Cup. And Gibbs-White says the experience of that success cannot be undervalued, explaining: "It's so important to have that winning mentality.

"As a football player you want to win every game, that is the mindset you have to go into every game with, every tournament, whatever that may be.

And after loan spells in the Championship during his time at Wolves, Gibbs-white is also drawing on his experience of setbacks as well as good times.

He said: "I had my ups and downs at Wolves, I have had my ups and downs at Forest. I have them every day but it's just how you control that and bounce back from your down. I feel like I have learned a lot and am ready to push on and win."
