'The expectation': Feyenoord's director shares what Santiago Gimenez actually thought about moving to Forest
Source: Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest have made a really impressive start to their 2024/25 campaign in the Premier League.

Nuno Espirito Santo's men remain unbeaten in their opening three games with five points now on the board.

This has all come on the back of what was a busy summer transfer window at the City Ground with players coming and going until the final minutes.

The Reds saw double digit new players arrive but there may well be some disappointment that Forest were unable to land themselves a new striker.

One of their striker targets has now seen the director of his current club share why he was not so keen to make the move to the City Ground.

Eddie Nketiah was a player linked with Forest but the former Arsenal man has now joined Crystal Palace after his proposed move to the City Ground fell through.

And then there was Santiago Gimenez who finally rejected the move to Forest after a rollercoaster of a ride for the fans.

With the window now shut, Feyenoord's director Dennis te Kloese has shared what Gimenez was actually thinking about potentially joining the Reds.

"I think that Santi has shown in the past two years that he is a very important player for Feyenoord," he told FR Fans.

"The statistics speak for him. I think that he had a fantastic first half of the season last year, (which made him) very valuable (to other clubs) in the second half of the season. I think that the expectation was that several clubs outside of Nottingham Forest would come."

Chris Wood is proving more than good enough for Forest After an impressive 2023/24 campaign, Wood has made a seriously impressive start to the new season at Forest.

In his opening three games, the New Zealand striker has already been able to provide a return of two goals which will go a long way in reassuring the Forest fans.

This comes after suggestion from one Dutch pundit that Gimenez was not good enough for Forest anyway.

The only issue which some fans will still have is where they go to if Wood was to pick up an injury issue with Taiwo Awoniyi struggling for form.
