And the incident could have led to an awkward situation between the duo as they later ended up playing alongside each other at AC Milan.

Ronaldinho was a popular figure among fans due to his silky skills and infectious smile, and was also held in high regard by his fellow professionals during his illustrious career. And the 97-time capped Brazil international illustrated his human side by deciding not to sue Prince-Boateng after the Ghanaian made an enormous faux pas during his days at German side Hertha.

"I played in Hertha and he brought out these shoes - R10, the black ones with the tongue," the ex-Premier League ace explained on Rio Ferdinand's Vibe with FIVE. "No one was allowed to wear them - no one - only him, because he had to present them on Sunday with Barcelona. I went to buy them at the shop and I played in them on the Saturday.

The players were playing in different countries at the time but eventually became team-mates years later when Prince-Boateng signed for Milan in the summer of 2010. They spent half a season together in Italy before Ronaldinho returned to his homeland the following January to sign for Flamengo.

"He's the best in the world at two-touch. Happy guy. So I told him, 'you're my idol, I love you.' He said, 'don't worry, we're together now, we're the same level, don't worry.'

"He's the nicest guy ever. I looked at him - Ronaldinho came in with his hair band, he had the band on, you know, big watch. He came in and I was like, 'Ronaldinho bro.' Forget all of them in the dressing room. It's Ronaldinho, R10."
