Hull City play-off boost as West Brom receive Preston North End team selection warning

The Baggies host the Lilywhites at a packed out Hawthorns this Saturday (May 4) and need a point to ensure they will be competing in the play-offs. Hull City need to win and hope for a slip up from West Brom and Saturday's opposition boss will not be tinkering with his starting 11.

North End have nothing to play for except pride with a ninth-placed finish the best they can hope for. They suffered a 3-0 defeat to Leicester City who were crowned champions on Monday and despite an opportunity to give minutes to young players, he will aim to preserve the integrity of the competition.

When asked if he would be giving minutes to those who hadn't played much this season, Lowe said to the Lancashire Evening Post: "Not really, no.

"We have got to try and pick the best team, we feel can win. Again, another tough encounter. West Brom need to win to get into the play-offs; Hull are champing at the bit to get in there. So, we are not looking to do anyone any favours other than ourselves, unfortunately.

"We will go there with the strongest team we possibly can. Hindsight is a wonderful thing isn't it? But, if you'd have got more points on the board, then who knows? You might've got one or two players more minutes and given them whatever it may be."

West Brom have a fairly decent record against Preston having only lost twice to them in their last 10 matches and winning seven. The last time these two sides met at the same venue was a 2-0 win for the hosts with Okay Yokuslu scoring a brace in December 2022.
