The 28-year-old joined the Robins on a short-term deal on January 22 but he won't be staying at Whaddon Road following their relegation from League One. He made 13 appearances after joining but 12 of those were as a substitute and he was unused in their final two matches.

Harrop was a free agent for six months before joining Cheltenham Town after being released by Northampton Town. He had been training with Cheltenham and was one of Darrell Clarke's first signings, with the Gloucestershire outfit undeterred by him only playing twice for the Cobblers.

In a message to Harrop and the other players released, Cheltenham Town said: "Everyone at the club would like to thank all of the departing players for their efforts and wish them the very best of luck in their future careers."

During his time at Preston, he was loaned out twice to Ipswich Town and then Fleetwood Town who were both in League One. He suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury 11 games in to his second campaign and despite going on to appear 32 times the following season, he fell out of favour under Alex Neil and then Frankie McAvoy.
