David Moyes has come under pressure at West Ham

David Moyes needs to try and get both James Ward-Prowse and Kalvin Phillips into his starting lineup at West Ham, according to Michael Brown.

Answering questions on the BBC Sport website on Thursday (28 March), the pundit said he would try and get the English midfield duo into his side as Edson Alvarez is facing a three-match suspension following an accumulation of yellow cards.

He added that Phillips needs games and to relax after being dealt the blow of not being called up to the latest Three Lions squad, having experienced a difficult start to life with the Hammers following his loan move from Manchester City in the January transfer window.

"David Moyes needs to try and find a way of fitting both of those into the team," said Brown. "Phillips will get going but he needs games and he needs to relax. He has been dealt the blow of not being in the England squad and that was a concern of mine when he made the move.

"Moyes can move things around, but there seems to be a lot of uncertainty at West Ham because of the managerial situation that is still lingering on. I would not want to play either - I would want to play both."

West Ham duo handed opportunity amid Edson Alvarez suspension The last thing West Ham would have wanted is for Alvarez to be missing the next three games after he's impressed since his summer move from Ajax.

While Ward-Prowse had an excellent start with the Hammers, his performances have tailed off over the past few months and he's recently lost his place in the starting lineup.

The same can't be said for Phillips, who simply hasn't looked fit since making the temporary switch, but these next three games should hand them both an extended run in the side.

West Ham United midfielder Kalvin Phillips Kalvin Phillips has struggled to make an impact for West Ham The loanee can now focus all of his attention on performing well at club level as all the noise around his England place should stop following his recent snub.

Whether or not he will get a start is down to Moyes, but one thing is for sure, if he can't get things going in the next few weeks, he is incredibly unlikely to earn a permanent deal at the London Stadium.
